Medical Center in Berkeley. Your imaging is performed by an experi-
enced, licensed sonographer, certified not only in 3D/4D technology,
but also in conventional 2D ultrasound as well. We use the latest equipment
from Accuvix, the Leader in 3D Ultrasound, to provide top-quality imaging.

Does this replace the ultrasound I get from my doctor’s office?
NO! Before you can have a 3D/4D ultrasound with us, you must be receiving prenatal care with a healthcare provider AND have already undergone a medical, diagnostic ultrasound to confirm your due date, screen for fetal anomalies and to diagnose any other pregnancy-related issues.

How safe is it?
Numerous studies over the years have found that ultrasound causes no harm to the baby and there is no cumulative effect from receiving multiple scans, regardless of your age. The equipment we use is certified and is in compliance with government regulations.

What happens during the procedure?
It’s very similar to conventional 2D ultrasounds. You’ll lie on your back with your abdomen exposed and the sonographer will rub gel over your tummy to improve the sound conduction. The sonographer will then slide a hand-held device back and forth over your stomach to transmit the sound waves. As the computer translates the waves into pictures on the TV monitor, your baby will appear right before your eyes.

What makes 3D/4D ultrasound images better?
While 3D and 4D scans use exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasonic waves as conventional 2D imaging, the difference is in the sophistication of the 3D/4D imaging equipment and its software. This added sophistication results in much higher quality images.

What’s the best time to have a 3D/4D ultrasound taken?
If you’re only going to have one session, we recommend having the images taken when you’re between 28 and 30 weeks pregnant. We can, however, obtain beautiful images between 22 and 36 weeks. Many women choose to come in two or more times for imaging. This allows them to view their baby at various stages and have even more lasting memories of this special time.

Can you guarantee that I’ll get great images of my baby?
You will, in most cases. However, depending on the baby’s position, it may be difficult to see the baby’s face. We promise to make every possible effort, under all circumstances, to get the best images for you.

Will my insurance cover these 3D/4D ultrasounds?
Unfortunately, at this point insurance doesn’t cover this procedure as it’s strictly elective and is not intended to replace your physician-ordered ultrasound. We accept cash and Visa or Mastercard.
